Us ...
Inesscents™ Aromatic Botanicals is a small home-based family
business in Southern Oregon. We strive to maintain the therapeutic
integrity of our products by using minimal processing and by supporting
organic practices. We believe in the wisdom of the Earth’s
medicines and strive to maintain their purity and perfection.
Inesscents™ was born out of our family’s need to
create an alternative to commercial body care products, simultaneously
creating a legacy that our children’s children can inherit
using their imagination and intelligence to reshape the future
concerning natural products. We knew that we wanted to raise our
children ourselves, and felt the need to create a business that
would allow us to be home to do this. We know that eating fresh,
organic and unrefined foods provide the most nourishment for our
bodies, so why should our skin’s food be an exception? We
believe that the skin, as the largest organ of the human body,
is an essential way to feed the internal body, so nurturing the
skin is nurturing the body whole.
We started making products for use on ourselves and our children.
Soon, our friends and acquaintances were captivated by the results.
This created a local demand thus, our first product line was born,
Scentimental™ Aromatic Botanicals, which specialized in
natural perfume and massage oils. Health food stores and food
cooperatives were the first outlet for these products. This turned
out to be more of a learning experience, which led us to reconsider
how we were going to market our products to a wider customer base.
In 2001, three years into the journey, we decided to redevelop
our image and product line, leading us to the creation of Inesscents
Aromatic Botanicals. We had been bringing pure, unrefined shea
butter back to the US from West Africa for years and was using
it ourselves. We realized the time was ripe to introduce this
natural wonder to the US natural consumer market, thus initiating
the development of our line of Body Butters.
Since this time, much growth has taken place. We have managed
to build the business by listening to our customer’s needs
and desires for clean, simple and organic products as well as
by the availability of the organic raw materials we needed to
use. There are many body care companies out there professing “natural”
and even “organic” on their labels, but when one takes
a closer look at the ingredients, they often are highly processed
or refined and contain at least a few questionable ingredients.
Inesscents is about truly expressing simplicity. We use no preservatives,
other than those naturally present in some of our raw materials
(such as organic jojoba oil). We use only pure essential oils,
absolutes, co2 extracts, and tree resins as fragrances for our
scented products (including our natural perfume oils). Our ingredients
lists stay short and sweet. Nothing questionable or unrecognizable!

We realize as a business, we have to do our part to maintain balance
in our environment. These are some of the ways that we are striving
to support our Earth and all Her children:
*Many of our products are packaged in glass suitable for recycling,
and for purchase in bulk, to minimize packaging and reduce waste.
*All of the paper we use is 100% post-consumer waste or 100%
Tree Free. We also reuse or recycle all of our packing and shipping
material.
*Our African Shea Butter comes from Togo, West Africa, where
women make the Shea butter using the same traditional methods
that their ancestors have used for generations. The Shea nuts
are wildcrafted and then crushed. The nuts are then dried, lightly
roasted and ground to a powder. Water is then added and the mixture
is slowly heated to produce the oil which cools to become Shea
butter. Producing Shea butter in this way, as opposed to high
heat refinement which destroys many of the healing properties,
preserves the therapeutic integrity of the product. Inesscents™
African Shea Butter is not “Certified Organic”, as
there are no organic certification standards in West Africa. However,
it is sustainably harvested from the wild and produced in a traditional
manner according to FAIR TRADE standards.
*Our African Black Soap comes from Ghana, West Africa and is
the traditional soap of the region. It is made in a traditional
manner, again according to FAIR TRADE standards.
*Our line of Organic and Nourishing Body Oils includes: Organic
Jojoba Oil, Organic Almond Oil, Organic Avocado Oil, Organic Calendula
Oil, Organic Olive Oil, Organic Sunflower Oil, Organic Baby Oil
and African Shea Oils. With the exception of the African Shea
Oil, these are all Certified Organically Grown.
*The Organic Almond Oil is cold-pressed in central California
by a family owned Certified Organic Farm. Almonds are California’s
largest tree crop. We are proud to support California’s
economy in an earth-sustaining way.
*The Organic Jojoba Oil is also cold-pressed and produced by
a Certified Organic Farm in Arizona, where jojoba is native.
* The Organic Avocado Oil is produced Certified Organically Grown
and produced by a worker owned collective in South Africa.
Absolutely no animal testing has ever been done on any product
we sell, and all of our ingredients are entirely plant-based.
We bring to you only the safe and gentle formulations that we
